Your Daily Horror: Marvel Zombies TPB Iron Man Cover

Tagged Under : , , , ,

What would horror month be without zombies? Marvel’s smash series Marvel Zombies is here in trade paperback with a special direct market cover, showing Iron Man–Tony Stark–battling his inner demons: alcohol, and the zombie virus!

By Robert Kirkman of The Walking Dead fame, Marvel Zombies depicts a threat that first came from the skies: a horrific virus that turned nearly every man, woman, and child on Earth into undead zombies. Even Marvel’s greatest heroes, including Captain America, Spider-Man and the Hulk, have succumbed, driven only by one mindless goal: to feed on human flesh. But with only a small number of survivors remaining against this unstoppable tide of hunger, what happens when the zombies finally run out of humans to eat?!

Comic-book fans devoted enough to read only Marvel titles have long been dubbed “Marvel zombies,” but even the most passionate reader could not have predicted the astounding success of this series. Writer Robert Kirkman crafts a shocking, spellbinding tale of a Marvel Universe infected by a worldwide zombie plague. Veteran artist Sean Phillips fleshes out Kirkman’s tale, ably transforming once-familiar Marvel heroes into disturbing visions of decaying flesh and rotting bones.

Walking Dead

Walking Dead #66 comes out today (when the truck comes in, that is) and I’m super psyched to see the final issue of the “Hunters” arc. Rick and the rest of the survivors are tired and scared. They’re down to three days of food at best and nearly lost Dale to a bunch of psychotic “hunters” who are also hungry…so hungry they’ve turned to cannibalism.

Kirkman’s Walking Dead is exactly what horror comics should be. The best thing is…we get to experience it year-round. If you haven’t yet jumped aboard, do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of the most recent issues and then tune in to see what happens in Walking Dead #66 because it promises to change TWD forever.

Walking Dead TV Series on the Horizon at AMC

Tagged Under : , , ,

Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics might be coming to a television screen near you! AMC now has the rights, which means a potential series is in the works. The Oscar-nominated writer-director Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption) is at the helm and will also executive produce.

The Walking Dead, which recently made the #1 position in ICv2’s Top Genre Properties list for Q2, focuses on a group of small-town survivors of a widespread zombie outbreak. As the characters struggle to eke out an existence in the face of worldwide zombie domination, some prevail–and some fall.

If you want to catch up on The Walking Dead before the series comes out, make sure to check out The Walking Dead Compendium. It contains the first 48 issues–four years of story–and you can get it for 20% off if you purchase it by the end of the month–$47.99, or about a buck an issue!
