What You Need to Know
The computer has an all-aluminum body, which gives it a sleek feel.
It is a little thicker and heavier than the Acer or Macbook Air.
The keyboard has wide keys and is really comfortable to type on.
The touchpad is not only multi-touch, but it also has an Icon Mode that'll let you launch a browser, e-mail, or your own macro; this is useful, but you might accidentally tap Icon Mode sometimes and disable the touchpad.
It has a 2.16 gigahertz processor and 3 GB of RAM.
In our regular PCMark Vantage tests, it scored about 3,000 points, only 100 points more than the Acer.
In real world terms, it takes about 45 seconds to boot up and launch a web browser, whereas the Acer was about 55 seconds.
Overall, it's good, but not great.
Price
$800.00.
If it were a little faster, we could fully recommend it, but the Acer is $250 less and just as fast.
Reuters - Film director Roman Polanski, arrested earlier this week in Switzerland, saw support weaken on Wednesday for his effort to evade sentencing in the United States in the rape of a 13-year-old girl three decades ago.
Reuters - France's government changed its tone on Wednesday on the arrest of Roman Polanski for having sex with a 13-year-old girl, describing the charges as serious after initially rushing to the film director's defense.
AP - If Roman Polanski were charged with child rape today, DNA evidence, stiffer penalties, outcry over childhood sexual abuse and tougher scrutiny of celebrity justice would make prosecutors much less willing to cut the plea deal the director received more than 30 years ago, legal experts say.
For anyone out there even remotely interested in game development or the art of making video games, I highly recommend checking out the new developer series over at the LucasArts Workshop blog devoted to the upcoming platforming title Lucidity.
In part one of the first installment, developer Brett Levin takes you through the intricate process of how LucasArts went about designing the game’s enemies (types, styles, patterns, placements, etc.). It’s a fascinating read, and really brings home the incredible amount of work that goes into making games. Perspective ho!
Record company Warner Music Group has (finally) reached an agreement with YouTube to allow Warner music videos to be shown on the site. Under the deal, Warner will receive the majority of money made by ad impressions on its videos shown on YouTube.
Chris Maxcy, head of Music partnerships at YouTube said, "It sets us up for a sustainable partnership going forward by sharing revenues, where the vast majority of the revenues will be going to Warner Music associated with advertising when consumers watch or listen to the content on YouTube."
YouTube will now feature videos from all the big music companies including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music, so feel free to sit home and watch rock video all day like the world is a version of MTV that actually plays videos. Why not start with this one:
Back in August, Sony announced that PlayStation Home version 1.3 would be released sometime in September. Well, as anyone with a PlayStation 3 and a calendar can tell you, Sony obviously missed that release window. Fortunately, Home lovers won’t have to wait much longer to download the latest update, since it will be released...tomorrow!
Steve already posted about all the major additions, so check out his article to find out more about them. Some of the newly revealed features include an updated Central Plaza, which will feature a new World Map Travel Center that will let you quickly and easily jump to various parts of Home, as well as a new a new music kiosk and a new prizes/items kiosk.
Sony will also be releasing the new underwater-themed Neptune Suite tomorrow, which also includes the multiplayer mini-game Blast Zone, and an unspecific pet to keep you company. The Hot Shots Golf game space, which was previously only available in Japan, will also be added in the update.
Seriously, how much time do you spend with Home? Are any of the new features particularly welcomed?
In the beginning, there was "Meet the Parents." Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro clashed comedic wits on the big screen, and it was good. In the second installment, "Meet the Fockers," the Stiller/De Niro powerhouse shared their screen time with the elder Fockers, the parents of Stiller's character Gaylord, ...
